Erik started studying physical therapy in Amsterdam after his VWO education. He completed his internship partly in the department of “Physical Therapy in Hand Problems” at the Free University. In addition, Erik completed an internship at the 1st Group Practice. This is a partnership of individual physical therapy practices and other body-oriented therapies, where he began working after his training. In 2016, the 1st Group Practice was established under Physio Punt Zuid, which formed a partnership with Physiotherapy & Training Amsterdam (FTA). Physio Punt Zuid therefore moved to the FTA Center-East location as of September 2022.
After physical therapy training, Erik took the day course “Faculty of Exercise Science” at the Free University. While studying, Erik focused on the anatomy and legitimacy of physical therapy, both scientifically and socially.
The practical work involved in physical therapy fascinated Erik the most, which is why he continued with physical therapy despite taking manual therapy courses. Still Erik takes great pleasure in the profession. He finds meeting all kinds of people and solving movement problems very interesting.
Over the years, Erik has built a large network within the North Holland region. The network of professionals can be a good complement to solving or improving movement problems. The total breadth of movement problems has become his purview. He tries to keep up with new scientific findings but also believes that the patient and complaints should remain guiding principles. Looking critically at the outcome of an intervention is most important to Erik.
